Teams of one man and two women will scour public events in Los Angeles and Dallas this summer, looking for poor tire maintenance.
Michelin North America Inc. said it is sending teams of a ``specially trained force''-dubbed the Michelin Tire Patrol-to motorsport races, car shows, concerts and other high-profile events in the two cities. The teams, which will look for vehicles with poorly maintained tires, will seek out the drivers as they park their vehicles and will check tire pressure and tread depth at no charge.
Members ``will even show the masses how to easily do these simple maintenance steps themselves,'' the Greenville-based tire maker said. Tire pressure gauges, tire maintenance brochures and other maintenance reminders also will be distributed.
Team members will be trained college students wearing identifiable navy blue Michelin polo shirts.
The tire maker's Bibendum mascot also will be at some events, though he won't be checking air pressure-he'll pose for photos and mingle with crowds.
