AKRON (Aug. 5, 2003)—Goodyear introduced three tires to the Asian market last week at a media event in Luxembourg.
The Ducaro GA premium passenger car tire, the Eagle Ventura all-season performance tire and the Eagle F1GS-D3 ultra-performance tire will be available to the market. A Goodyear spokesman in Akron said the Eagle F1 already is offered in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. The Eagle Ventura already is offered in Europe and Latin America, but not in the U.S. The Ducaro GA tire will be strictly an Asian product, the spokesman said.
While the tire launches were for the Asian market, the introduction was at Goodyear's European Technical Center in Luxembourg because that center helps with tire designs for Asia, the spokesman said. Goodyear said the tires feature “Trinuum Tire Technology,” in which “tri-” refers to the corroboration of Goodyear's three technical centers in Europe, Japan and the U.S., and “-nuum” refers to the continuum of tire technology to design tires for every application, terrain and driver.
While the company said its market share is strong in some Asian countries, including Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, Goodyear hopes to make more inroads in China. Compared to last year, Goodyear's sales and profits in China are up 22 percent, the Akron-based tire maker said.
