BRUSSELS, Belgium-Goodyear's Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East business unit will supply tires for Hungarocamion's fleet of 1,200 vehicles in Europe under a contract worth more than $1.6 million.
Hungarocamion, based in Hungary, is one of the largest international freight forwarding companies in Europe, Goodyear said.
Goodyear will supply service and a variety of drive, steer and trailer tires to the fleet, which travels about 90 million miles a year.
Sumitomo to boost production in Asia
KOBE, Japan-Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. will invest $285 million over two years to expand tire production capacity in Asia, with about two-thirds of the sum going to the Kobe-based group's plants in Japan.
The expansions will support a planned 30-percent rise in output of sport-utility-vehicle tires, as well as 15- and 10-percent increases, respectively, in car and truck/bus tire production. Outside of Japan, Sumitomo operates a plant in Indonesia and is building one in China.
Dunlop to sponsor sumo wrestling
TORONTO-The Dunlop tire brand will sponsor a sumo wrestling championship this year in British Columbia, Dunlop Tires (Canada) Ltd. said.
Organized by the North American Sumo Federation, the event will be held Aug. 23 in Richmond, British Columbia. It will feature amateur sumo wrestlers from Canada, the U.S., Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica and Japan.
``We're always looking for ways to make our mark by providing Canadians with unique and memorable experiences,'' a company spokesman said.
