FINDLAY, Ohio (July 11, 2003) — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s mold operations in Findlay has earned International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 accreditation, the tire maker said.
The ISO's main function is to write standards with an emphasis on high-quality, consistent products or services and continuous improvement, Cooper said. The 9001 certification applies to companies that perform design, development to production, installation and servicing.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment,” said Marion Waltz, Cooper's mold operations manager. “Cooper mold operations voluntarily chose to adopt ISO to formalize its quality system and to drive continuous improvement throughout the mold facility.”
Cooper said the facility began the certification process in May 2002 and had its final audit in February. The tire maker invested more than 4,000 hours to implement the system, Cooper said.
