AKRON (July 10, 2003)—Goodyear has launched a new H-rated Eagle performance tire aimed at automotive enthusiasts wanting a high performance tire at a value price.
The Eagle GT-HR features an all-season, directional tread pattern and carries a 50,000-mile treadwear rating. It also is designed with Goodyear's Race Wrap construction technology in which the ply wraps from the center of the tread, down around the bead, up the sidewall and back under the steel belts.
This is the same technology Goodyear uses in its NASCAR race tires and “gives us high-speed durability without nylon overlays,” said Bob Toth, marketing manager for Goodyear brand auto tires.
The tire, which replaces the Goodyear Eagle HR line and 18 T-rated sizes of the Eagle GT II tire line, is available in 20 sizes ranging from P185/60R14 to P245/50R16. It carries a UTQG rating of 440AA.
Only independent tire dealers, Goodyear company-owned stores, Sears Automotive Centers and National Tire & Battery stores will offer the new tire.
Goodyear is building the tire at its Union City, Tenn., tire plant.
