DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (June 30, 2003 ) — The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) will induct four industry professionals into its Hall of Fame at its Installation Banquet July 25 in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Robert Vandergriff Sr. of Hedman Hedders, Marvin Rifchin of M&H Tire Co., Bob McJannett of Performance Improvements and Brian Appelgate of B&M Racing and Performance will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, SEMA said.
Mr. Vandergriff bought Hedman Manufacturing in 1978 and is credited with turning the company around, SEMA said. Mr. Rifchin's company was one of the first to manufacture tires specifically for drag racing, and Mr. McJannett's support of the industry with legislation has been a valuable tool for SEMA, the association said. Mr. Appelgate, who served as SEMA chairman of the board from 1997 to 1999, was instrumental in developing the SEMA Technology Transfer Program, which expanded the association's international relations.
