GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 26, 2003) — Michelin North America Inc. is launching a new sport-utility vehicle tire line, with 14 sizes, under its Uniroyal brand.
The new Laredo Cross Country will be available to consumers in September with a 60,000-mile treadwear limited warranty, the Greenville-based tire maker said.
Michelin said the tire line offers performance at an affordable price, and it should be a high-margin product for dealers. The tire will fit various light trucks, including foreign and domestic makes, it added.
“The Laredo Cross Country was specially designed for today's SUVs and provides a tremendous addition to our light truck tire lineup,” said Tim Jamison, Uniroyal brand director. “We're confident that this exciting new product line will be a tremendous seller for our dealers, especially in today's environment in which so many consumers are looking for value.”
Michelin said the tires provide improved wear, dry handling and mud traction compared to the Uniroyal Laredo All Season AWP. The new tires also have a square, stress-optimized contact patch that enhances tread block stability and minimizes surface temperatures, Michelin said.
The line will be available in the following sizes: P215/75R15, P225/70R15, P225/75R15, P235/70R15, P235/75R15, P265/70R15, P235/70R16, P245/70R16, P245/75R16, P255/70R16, P265/70R16, P265/75R16, P245/65R17 and P265/70R17. Some of the sizes will not be available until January 2004.
