Tire Centers L.L.C. (TCI) has opened new commercial service centers in Colorado and Florida and begun work on a new retread plant in Tennessee.
In Colorado, TCI consolidated a service center and satellite location into a new service center in an effort to serve the Denver area better, the Duncan-based company said.
The new center, in Henderson, Colo., replaces a service center in Denver and a satellite center in Littleton, Colo. A spokesman said the outlet is larger and more accessible by the two main freeways in the area. The center stocks a variety of tires and also offers a range of services. Five drive-through bays service passenger cars, recreational vehicles and commercial trucks.
``TCI recognized that the unprecedented level of growth we've seen here in Denver over the past few years has created new tire and service needs for commercial fleets,'' said Jim Glass, TCI's regional director.
In Florida, TCI opened a commercial tire center in West Palm Beach to service vehicles traveling the Florida Turnpike as well as the coast area, the firm said.
With three drive-through truck bays on site, the center will be open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to noon.
``Our goal is to provide fleets the services they need, when they need them and in a way that reduces the fleet's overall costs and improves their ability to serve their customers,'' said Jay Kernica, the center's manager.
TCI's new retread plant, its 14th nationwide, is being built at an existing commercial tire complex in Antioch, Tenn. With 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space, the Michelin Retread Technologies Inc. (MRTI) plant will push the complex's total space to 75,000 square feet, TCI said.
The new facility will provide pre-mold MRTI retreads to fleets and commercial customers throughout the central and eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama regions. Distribution will go through TCI locations in Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn., and Decatur and Huntsville, Ala.. The new facility is slated to open in early August.
``We are looking forward to a rapid ramp-up of our operations and a very positive relationship with the commercial sales teams and local business,'' said Larry White, vice president of manufacturing for TCI.
TCI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Michelin North America Inc., operates more than 130 service centers and 13 MRTI retread plants.
