AKRON (June 6, 2003)—Goodyear received a NorTech Innovation Award for its Eagle F1 GS-D3 “world tire,” the Akron-based tire maker said.
The award, presented by the Northeast Ohio Technology Coalition, recognizes individuals, companies and nonprofits that have created, developed and successfully implemented original ideas, Goodyear said.
The Eagle ultra-high-performance tire was developed in Goodyear's Akron and Luxembourg technical centers.
“Distinctive new tires such as the Eagle F1 distinguish Goodyear's product offering and creates a competitive advantage,” said Joseph Gingo, Goodyear's executive vice president, quality systems and chief technical officer. “This is key to our company's success.”
Goodyear has won similar awards from the group in the past, for products including the TensionRite belt gauge, the Wrangler MT/R tire, Aquatred tire and Extended Mobility Technology (run-flat) tires.
