AKRON (June 6, 2003)—Joseph M. Gingo has been named executive vice president, quality systems and chief technical officer of Goodyear, the Akron-based tire maker said.
Mr. Gingo, 58, had served as Goodyear's senior vice president for technology and global products planning since 1999. In his new position, Mr. Gingo will continue to lead the tire maker's research, tire technology and global products planning groups as well as lead three strategic initiatives for the company, including Six Sigma, product innovation and development and quality leadership. He also still will be responsible for the company's global race tire program.

The three strategic initiatives Joe will lead are vital to our turnaround program.”
Before heading Goodyear's technology program, Mr. Gingo was vice president of Engineered Products in 1998. Prior to that post, he was vice president of the company's Asian tire business. Mr. Gingo joined Goodyear in 1966.
