ROANOKE, Texas (June 6, 2003)—Bridgestone/Firestone will take its advertising message to the nation's highways this year promoting its Bridgestone and Firestone brands on the sides of 200 of the company's commercial trucks.
The stunning new 18-wheeler tractor-trailers make no bones about the tire company's commitment to high performance and racing.
The black trailers feature illustrations of its performance passenger, motorcycle, racing and commercial truck products as well as pay homage to Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. founder Harvey S. Firestone.
Bridgestone/Firestone unveiled the new rolling billboards at the opening of the company's new 610,000 sq.-ft. distribution center near Dallas-Forth Worth, June 6. The Bridgestone brand is featured on one side of the trailer montage and the Firestone brand on the other.
“These are perhaps the coolest 18 wheelers you'll see on the road,” said Nelson Miller, director of distribution for Bridgestone/Firestone. “Historically we've displayed a single image on many of our commercial trucks. This montage truly showcases the depth of our varied product line and our history. Since billboards have long been advertising staples, we thought why not take the billboards to the road?”
