NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 2, 2003) — Bridgestone's Turanza ER30 N-O extra load tire will be offered as original equipment on the new Porsche Cayenne sport-utility vehicle.
The Cayenne's tire will be size 255/55R18 109Y, Nashville-based Bridgestone/Firestone said.
“It is very gratifying to be named an original equipment supplier for this exciting new vehicle,” said Michael Martini, vice president of consumer tire original equipment sales. “Our engineers have worked very closely with Porsche to secure this fitment, and we've been the main supplier since the start of production on the Cayenne.”
Bridgestone also provides tires for the Porsche 911 and Boxster.
Michelin's 20-inch Diamaris tire also is slated to outfit the Cayenne S and Turbo, as are the Pirelli Scorpion AT, Scorpion Zero and P-Zero Rosso tires in sizes from 17 to 19 inches.
The Bridgestone tire, manufactured by Bridgestone Corp. in Japan, is designed with a two-ply rayon body, two nylon cap piles and two steel belts to optimize dry handling and wet traction, the tire maker said.
