CYPRESS, Calif. (May 27, 2003) — Toyo Tires (U.S.A.) Corp. committed to another three years as the official tire of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) SPEED World Challenge Championship Series.
Toyo, which had been involved with the road racing series since 2001, extended the contract to 2006.
“The SCCA SPEED World Challenge Championships is the most exciting production car road racing series in the world, and it is a great place to demonstrate the capabilities of our tires,” said Earl Knoper, senior vice president of marketing for Toyo.
For the 2003 racing season—which includes 11 races from March through October—Toyo's Proxes RA-1 is the spec tire for the high-horsepower category. Toyo said the tire features high grip and consistent wear capabilities.
