CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 27, 2003) — Classic tire marketer Coker Tire Co. plans to open a West Coast sales and service facility June 1.
The new outlet—which will complement its Tennessee headquarters—will be a full-service store in Fresno, Calif., the company said. It will stock and install all Coker Tire products, including tires and wheels for antiques, classics, muscle cars, street rods and customs, Pro Street machines, vintage trucks and racing cars and motorcycles. Other merchandise, apparel and collectibles also will be available, the vintage tire supplier said.
“There are a number of reasons we selected a West Coast site for our expansion,” said Joseph “Corky” Coker, president of Coker Tire. “A California location allows us to be on the cutting edge of developing trends in the collector and vintage car market since most of today's automotive trends tend to initiate on the West Coast.”
A prime advantage, he said, is lower shipping costs for customers. A buyer in California would spend $110 to ship a set of tires from Tennessee; with the new facility, the same customer can have next-day delivery.
Sales for the West Coast outlet also will be handled through Coker Tire's Web site—www.coker.com—or hotline.
