PARIS (May 13, 2003) — Group Michelin expects to add 1,100 employees to its 32,000-strong workforce in France this year.
The hirings are part of an initiative started in 2001 to increase employment by 3,100 by year-end 2003, according to the tire maker. Of the new jobs, 600 will be for professional staff, including engineers and technicians. The 500 remaining posts are for workers required by Michelin's 18 factories in France, the company said.
The recruits will in part replace employees leaving Michelin through the company's early or scheduled retirement programs.
