AKRON (May 7, 2003) — At their annual meeting, held today in Akron, Goodyear shareholders elected board members that had been appointed by the company.
The directors include James C. Boland, Steven A. Minter and James M. Zimmerman, who will serve three-year terms. Agnar Pytte was elected to serve the remaining year of a three-year term on the board.
Mr. Boland is a former vice chairman of Ernst & Young and vice chairman of Cavs/Gund Arena Co. Mr. Minter is president and executive director of the Cleveland Foundation. Mr. Zimmerman is chairman of Federated Department Stores. Mr. Pytte is a retired president and CEO of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Directors Martin D. Walker and Kathryn D. Wriston retired from the board.
Shareholders also approved a proposal to change the required number of directors. The board now will have between nine and 11 directors, instead of 11 to 19 previously.
Of the seven continuing directors, the following members' terms expire in 2004: John Breen, Edward Fogarty and Robert Keegan. The following members' terms expire in 2005: Susan Arnold, Gary Forsee and William Hudson. Sam Gibara will step down from the board June 30.
