Pete's Road Service Inc. is building a 70,000-sq.-ft. outlet in Corona, Calif., that will serve as a combination commercial outlet, retread plant, warehouse and recycling center.
The facility, situated on 6.5 acres, will be instrumental in the Fullerton-based dealership's plans to consolidate its two retread plants in Orange, Calif., and Fontana, Calif., according to President Jim Fletcher. When the center opens in July, it probably will retread 150 units per day, he said.
Mr. Fletcher noted that the dealership had budgeted for a 10-percent increase in sales for 2003 yet already is ahead of that projection despite higher insurance costs. He said his insurance costs doubled to $540,000 this year from $270,000 in 2002.
Pete's Road Service operates nine commercial locations throughout Southern California and two retread plants. The company posted $27.7 million in sales in 2002.
