NORTHVALE, N.J. (April 21, 2003) — As it celebrated its 50th anniversary in March, Rema Tip Top/North America Inc. also marked the grand opening of a new warehouse for both industrial and tire repair products.
The Northvale-based tire repair materials manufacturer opened a 66,000-sq.-ft. facility — which includes an industrial shop — in Covington, Ga., as its main warehouse for those two divisions, said President Olafur Gunnarsson.
The company first had leased the space since mid-2001, but bought the facility in September 2002 and put it online in March, Mr. Gunnarsson said. Rema now has three warehouses in the U.S.
The new distribution center replaces a smaller one Rema had operated but outgrew in Georgia.
“We decided to get it all into a bigger one,” Mr. Gunnarsson said.
Though he would not disclose specifics, he said Rema is looking at further expansions this year, with possibilities including new facilities in the East and in the West.
Other details in the works include an upcoming marketing campaign focused on the company's 50th anniversary. Rema also is in the process of printing four new catalogs with reference to the anniversary.
