NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 16, 2003)—Bridgestone Corp. for the eighth consecutive year has been named a General Motors Corp. Supplier of the Year, Nashville-based Bridgestone/Firestone said.
Bridgestone and its global family of companies supply Bridgestone and Firestone brands of tires to GM, its subsidiaries and joint ventures. Since the Supplier of the Year Awards were established in 1992, Bridgestone's group has won various awards in 10 of the 11 years, the tire maker said. The awards are judged based on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. GM honored 70 suppliers for their excellence in 2002.
“The Bridgestone Group is representative of the companies GM expects to grow with us as we seek to increase market share,” said Bo Andersson, vice president of GM worldwide purchasing production control & logistics.
