WASHINGTON (April 15, 2003) — Representatives of six associations representing the rubber and asphalt industries met at the Washington headquarters of the Rubber Manufacturers Association, discussing ways to promote the use of rubber-modified asphalt.
Among the methods discussed were lobbying Congress to include funds in the upcoming highway reauthorization bill for educational projects on rubberized asphalt, and a technical colloquium on rubberized asphalt tentatively planned for the ACS Rubber Division meeting in Grand Rapids, Mich. in spring 2004.
“At this point, we're trying to set up the right forums for people across the two industries to understand the benefits of rubberized asphalt,” said Ed Miller, executive director of the ACS Rubber Division and former head of the Asphalt Institute.
