Myers Industries Inc. has named former Goodyear executive John C. Orr as the company's first chief operating officer.
In the newly created position, Mr. Orr, 52, will be in charge of Myers's worldwide operations, reporting to Myers President and CEO Stephen E. Myers. Since August 2000, Mr. Orr had been general manager of Buckhorn Inc., a Myers subsidiary. Prior to that, he was the vice president of manufacturing for Goodyear's North American Tire Division from 1996 until joining Myers.
Mr. Myers called Mr. Orr ``ideally suited to this role in which he will be responsible for the company's daily operations.''
Mr. Orr joined Goodyear in 1972. His early career was in production and plant management at facilities in the U.S., Canada and Australia. From 1991 to 1996, he was director of manufacturing for Goodyear's Latin American Division.
Myers is an international manufacturer of polymer products for industrial, agricultural, automotive, commercial and consumer markets and also is a wholesale distributor of tools, equipment and supplies for the tire, wheel and under-vehicle service industry in the U.S. The company has 25 manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe.
