ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2003) – Goodyear's Kelly Tires business unit will be the title sponsor for the Conference USA's men's basketball tournament for the next three years, according to terms of an agreement signed recently with the collegiate conference and sports programming network ESPN Inc.
The 2003 Kelly Tires C-USA Men´s Basketball Tournament will be held at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky., March 12-15, while the 2004 tournament will be held at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The site of the 2005 C-USA tourney has not yet been determined.
“(Kelly's) support will help make this event one of the premier collegiate basketball tournaments in the nation and provide a quality postseason experience for our student-athletes,” said C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky.
ESPN will broadcast 10 tournament games on its regional ESPN 2 and ESPN Plus networks on the 12th –14th, with the championship game on the 15th to be broadcast on CBS.
Conference USA basketball members area: University of North Carolina-Charlotte, University of Cincinnati, DePaul University, East Carolina University, University of Houston, University of Louisville, Marquette University, Memphis University, Saint Louis University, University of South Florida, Southern Mississippi University, Texas Christian University, Tulane University, and University of Alabama-Birmingham.
