NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2003) — Bridgestone/Firestone's Warren County, Tenn., truck tire plant this week marked a milestone with the production of the 20 millionth tire of the factory's 13-year life.
The plant held a ceremony to mark the event. More than 1,000 employees signed the tire, now on display in the lobby of the plant, which manufacturers radial truck and bus tires.
Ground was broken for the facility in 1989, and the first tires rolled off the lines in 1990. Three tire technicians who were among the first working in the plant also were on hand for the milestone, Nashville-based BFS said.
“It's an honor to be part of this celebrations and to still be making tires,” said Mike Hall, one of the technicians. The other two employees are Kenneth Spry and Jan Woodside.
