NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 24, 2003) — Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) has added the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 street tire to its line of ultra-high performance tires.
What makes the RE750 range different and distinct from other Potenza models is its positioning in the tire maker's “better” category of UHP tires, behind the Potenza S-03 Pole Position in the “best” spot, BFS told Tire Business.
The Potenza RE750, featuring a unidirectional tread pattern, has been engineered to reduce road noise, even as the tread wears, BFS said. Designed to complement the style and complex systems of today's finest performance cars, the tire features improved wear for performance applications, according to BFS, and also delivers rapid response, traction, and “outstanding” wet and dry handling.
The new tire—which is being manufactured in Japan for the U.S. replacement market—replaces the Potenza RE730 in BFS's lineup.
“Not only does this tire live up to the Potenza name, but it also takes performance straight to the top,” said Mark Emkes, Chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire, in a prepared statement.
The Potenza RE750 also employs the company's UNI-T (Ultimate Network of Intelligent Tire Technologies) advanced technologies. The tire's rim guard—a raised rubber edge—acts like a bumper to protect wheels from curb damage, BFS said.
The W speed-rated Potenza RE750 will be available in the following sizes: 225/60R16; 205/55R15; 205/55R16; 225/55R16; 195/50R15; 205/50R15; 205/50R16; 225/50R16; 245/50R16; 205/50R17; 255/50R17; 205/45R16; 245/45R16; 215/45R17; 225/45R17; 235/45R17; 245/45R17; 205/40R17; 215/40R17; 235/40R17; 245/40R17; 255/40R17; 275/40R17; 225/40R18; 235/40R18; 245/40R18; 215/35R18; 265/35R18; and 255/35R20.
BFS said the RE750 has 29 sizes vs. the company's S-03 with more than 50. Though the RE750 offers a broader lineup to reach some older sports cars, the company noted the newer technologies incorporated in the S-03 are frequently a better fit with newer car owners.
The RE750 comes with a Platinum Pact three-year limited warranty, which BFS said provides replacement at no charge (excluding taxes and disposal fees) if the tire should become unusable due to defects in materials or workmanship for up to three years from date of purchase or four years from date of manufacture, whichever occurs first.
The tire also comes with a 30-day test drive, allowing a consumer to receive a full refund or exchange if he or she is not pleased with the tire for any reason within 30 days of purchase. Tires mounted as original equipment are not covered by the test drive.
The company does not discuss retail pricing, but said the new tire will be positioned below pricing for the Potenza S-03 Pole Position.
