WASHINGTON (Jan. 24, 2003) — Two companies have announced recalls involving trailer wheels and tire valves.
Hyundai Truck America is recalling 1,401 Hyundai LD15 Bering 4x2 trucks, model year 2000, to replace snap-in tire valve stems that could leak air.
Also, Hayes Lemmerz is recalling 40,000 trailer wheels manufactured between September 2001 and February 2002 to replace labels that advise tire technicians to torque wheel nuts to the wrong tolerance, which in turn could deform the mounting area of the wheel and cause the wheel to come off in operation, the company said.
