Software developer AutoWare Technologies L.L.C. is teaming up with WheelWorks Inc. to market a package of complementary tire-wheel vehicle matching tools that allow dealers to save time and cut costs when checking clearances for aftermarket tire and/or wheel upgrades.
AutoWare said it intends to market WheelWorks' Tire
MountMate-an expandable tool that allows a technician to check tire clearances without having to mount the tire on a wheel-together with its own SoftWheels visual imaging and TreadWare tire specifying software.
The patented MountMate simulates an actual wheel for determining the largest tire and wheel combo that will fit on a vehicle.
The tool, which extends from 14 to 28 inches in diameter and 7 to 15 inches in width, clamps to an empty tire and then bolts to the hub of the vehicle to allow the user to check clearances before mounting the tire and wheel.
Scott Blair, president of Daphne, Ala.-based WheelWorks, said, ``I look forward to...developing new products and services that will help tire and wheel dealers increase sales and lower their risk of damaging expensive tires and wheels.'' Mr. Blair is joining AutoWare Technologies as part of the deal.
AutoWare also is launching a technical tire and wheel training seminar designed to teach sales associates the technical aspects of custom wheels and tires.
AutoWare said it plans to hold the seminar at a dealer's location or in a local area allowing attendance by multiple dealers.
