WCTD planning Edmonton meeting
REGINA, Saskatchewan-The Western Canada Tire Dealers will hold its annual convention Feb. 12-14 at the Fantasyland Hotel, West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta.
Major-General Lewis MacKenzie, a retired officer from the Canadian armed forces, will keynote the gathering with a presentation on ``Lessons in leadership.'' Consultant Kit Grant will present seminars entitled, ``Expand Your Comfort Zone'' and ``Taking Personal Responsibility,'' to help dealers understand how to build stronger relationships that will impact productivity and bottom-line profits.
Other speakers will discuss workplace health and safety, the future of the automotive repair business and creating positive work environments. Performing at the WCTD's gala banquet will be country music group Famers Daughter.

Texas dealers plan April expo
AUSTIN, Texas-The Texas Tire Dealers Association will hold its annual convention and tire expo April 24-26 at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel in Dallas.
Workshops featuring legislative and regulatory updates and other tire industry issues are planned, as well as a golf tournament, welcome party and awards ceremony.

MATDA taking award nominations
TOPEKA, Kan.-The Mid-America Tire Dealers Association is accepting nominations for its MATDA Industry Service Award.
The award is presented annually to an individual who has distinguished himself or herself in the tire industry, either through years of unselfish dedication and service, or through a single exemplary act of service that has resulted in extraordinary benefits to MATDA's membership, the association said.
The 2003 recipient will be honored at the group's annual convention March 28-30 in Lawrence, Kan. The recipient-who does not need to be a member-also will receive a plaque, logo jacket, registration, tickets and motel room for two at the convention. Nominations are due Feb. 15.
