DETROIT (Dec 31, 2002)—Goodyear and Michelin North America Inc. are gearing up to display their cutting-edge tires at the North American International Auto Show, Jan. 11-19 in Detroit.
Michelin and BFGoodrich brands will dress more than 15 show vehicles for Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Mazda Motor Corp., Mitsubishi Motor Corp., Renault S.A., Toyota Motor Motor Corp., Venturi, Matra Automobiles and supplier Johnson Controls. Akron-based Goodyear also plans to have tires on more than two dozen vehicles during the 2003 auto show season, which includes the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, Jan. 4-12.
A concept car in Detroit also will feature tires with the PAX run-flat system. The system is being developed jointly by Goodyear and Michelin. The system aims at keeping a tire on the wheel and keeping the vehicle moving if air pressure is completely lost.
