CHESTER, Pa. (Dec. 13)—The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has turned down Kimberly-Clark Corp.'s application to burn tire-derived fuel at its plant in Chester, Pa.
Kimberly-Clark had hoped to burn 2.7 million tires annually at Chester in an 8-percent combination with its usual anthracite fuel. The DEP, however, ruled the company's application lacked several important pieces of information, and also that it didn't propose the best available technology to control emissions from TDF.
