WASHINGTON (Dec. 3, 2002) — The Rubber Manufacturers Association has slated April 27-May 3, 2003, for its second annual National Tire Safety Month.
During the week, the Washington-based association and about 100 tire dealer partners will campaign to remind drivers to check the air pressures in their tires at least once a month, according to the RMA. Participating dealers will distribute tire safety information from the organization.
National Tire Safety Week is an offshoot of the “Be Tire Smart—Play Your PART” program the association launched in November 2000 in the aftermath of the 6.5-million-tire Firestone recall and the passage of the Transportation Recall Efficiency, Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act.
