La. exec. director Rhea to retire
DENHAM SPRINGS, La.-Norm Rhea, executive director of the Louisiana Independent Tire Dealers Association since 1989, plans to retire from his post in April 2003.
Mr. Rhea announced his retirement plans at a recent LITDA board meeting, but said if a replacement isn't chosen by April, he'll stay on until one is named, then will serve in an advisory capacity through the end of 2003.
A 52-year-veteran of the tire industry, Mr. Rhea, 76, sold tires for U.S. Royal Tire Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1986. After he leaves LITDA, Mr. Rhea plans to continue operating two side businesses: one that distributes Tech International's tire repair materials and one that sells wheel weights and valve stems. He said he also wants to spend more time fishing.
``It's not one of those things where I'm going to sit down and watch the grass grow-because I'm not going to do that,'' he said of his plans.
