RESTON, Va. (Nov. 20, 2002) — In an effort to educate the public about tire recycling, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) has released a new publication, Lifecycle of the Tire.
The booklet—published in conjunction with “America Recycles Day” on Nov. 15—details tire recycling options and various equipment and technology used, the association said. More than 70 percent of scrap tires were recycled this year, according to TIA. That rate is higher than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 35 percent recycling goal for 2002.
