MILAN, Italy (Nov. 19, 2002) — Pirelli S.p.A. will be the exclusive supplier of tires and technology to Ferrari Maserati Group as part of an agreement effective until 2005, with a two-year extension to 2007, the company said.
Under the agreement, Pirelli will supply its P Zero line of tires to Maserati, the sportscar maker that is now owned by Ferrari. The original P Zero line was created for Ferrari in the mid-1980s.
Pirelli tires will be on Maserati cars for the Maserati Trophy in 2003 and the GT race circuit in 2004. The tires also will be standard equipment on Maserati's commercial cars, including a planned 2006 four-door sedan, Pirelli said.
Pirelli officials said the move is aimed at tapping into Maserati's developing market in the U.S.
