ST. LOUIS (Nov. 14, 2002) — Zisser Tire Wholesale announced it has become exclusive U.S. distributor for the Wanli S-1099, an economy priced line of Z-rated, high-performance tires targeted at the so-called tuner car market.
Sales Manager Don Mathis said the Wanli S-1099 line is “competitively priced,” appealing to the price-conscious nature of the youthful owners of restyled imports and compact cars known as “tuners.”
Available initially in sizes 205/40ZR17, 215/40ZR17, 215/45ZR17 and 225/40ZR18, 225/45ZR17, 235/40ZR18 and 235/45ZR17, the line will be expanded in 2003 to include 19- and 20-inch sizes as well, Mr. Mathis said.
Zisser Tire's S-1099 line is not to be confused with the broader array of Wanli-brand passenger, light truck and truck tires distributed by Houston-based American Omni Trading Co. Wanli is manufactured in China's Guangzhou Province.
St. Louis-based Zisser Tire is seeking distributors able to order 40-ft. container loads for direct factory shipment, Mr. Mathis said, and exclusive territories are available.
Among the features of the S-1099 are a uni-directional tread combined with wide, solid shoulders said to provide increased cornering ability, reduced road noise and superior driving comfort.
Zisser Tire—headed by John Zisser, son of the company's founder—has been in business since 1984. It also handles Nitto, Hankook, Pirelli and BFGoodrich brands and specializes in high-performance tires.
The company is forecasting annual sales of $43 million in 2003, most of it derived from wholesale operations, according to Mr. Zisser.
