BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Benjamin P. David, founder of David Tire Co. in Birmingham, died Aug. 2. He was 82
Mr. David started David Tire in 1947 with his brothers Herbert and Louis. Mr. David and Louis also were founding members of the Alabama Tire Dealers Association (ATDA) and were both inducted into the ATDA Hall of Fame this year.
In 1959 Mr. David was a founding member of the buying group Delta Tire Corp., a predecessor to Del-Nat Tire Corp.
He is survived by his wife Frances; sons John and Bill, who currently manage David Tire; and four daughters.
SAN JOSE, Calif.-Henry Vitkovich Sr. died Sept. 2 in San Jose, Calif. He was 76.
Mr. Vitkovich owned Tire Outlet and Tires Unlimited, based in San Jose, for more than 45 years, operating six locations at one point.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Vitkovich is survived by his wife Polly, son Henry Jr., president of the dealership, a daughter and two grandchilden.
