NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2002) —Eduardo Minardi, president of the Argentine subsidiary of Bridgestone/Firestone Americas Holding Inc. (BFAH), has been named president of Bridgestone/Firestone de Mexico, S.A.deC.V.
His appointment to the company's Mexico City-based subsidiary is effective immediately. Mr. Minardi succeeds Jorge Gonzalez, who was promoted to executive vice president of BFAH and appointed president of Bridgestone/Firestone Latin American Tire Operations (BFLA). His successor at the Argentine unit is Ariel Depascuali.
Mr. Minardi, 47, is a native of Argentina. He joined the company in 1989 and during his career has held positions of increasing responsibilities in Argentina — most recently as vice president and commercial director of Bridgestone/Firestone de la Argentina S.A.I.C. (BFAR) and president of BFAR.
Under Mr. Minardi's guidance, last year BFAR received numerous quality awards, including Toyota's Silver Supplier award, the company said.
Bridgestone/Firestone de la Argentina S.A.I.C. and Bridgestone/Firestone de Mexico, S.A.deC.V. have operated in Argentina and Mexico for almost 90 and 70 years, respectively. The companies manufacture and market a wide range of tires for the original equipment, export, consumer, automotive and mining industries.
