AKRON (Sept. 24, 2002) — Goodyear´s Eagle F1 GS-D3 ultra-performance tire, developed in Europe and featuring a sweeping tread pattern and sophisticated sidewall design, will become available in North America during late October in 39 sizes with 15- to 21-inch diameters.
The Akron-based tire maker said the new Eagle F1 is engineered for sporty cars, sport trucks and a growing segment of highly modified compacts known as “tuners.”
Bob Toth, Goodyear's marketing manager for auto tires, said the new tire looks fast even when standing still. “It´s Goodyear´s most technically sophisticated Eagle ultra-high-performance radial ever,” he said.
The tire features a sweeping unidirectional V-TRED design in combination with a triple-polymer AAtrax compound, Goodyear said, to achieve a “AA” quality grading for wet traction. It is said to offer maximized handling, acceleration and braking performance and optimum noise comfort.
The company is making the Eagle F1 at its plants in Lawton, Okla., as well as in Germany at Fulda, Phillipsburg, Hanau and Furstenwalde.
