DES MOINES, Iowa, (Sept. 23, 2002) — Bridgestone/Firestone's Agricultural Tire Division plans to introduce two additional sizes for its “Radial Deep Tread 23 degree” tire during the Farm Progress Show, Sept. 24 – 26 in Alleman, Iowa.
The Des Moines-based BFS subsidiary claims its Radial Deep Tread is the only R-1W tire made specifically for North American soils.
The new sizes—800/70R38 and 480/80R50—are specifically designed to meet the performance needs of higher-horsepower tractors used in today's farming operations, the company said. It now is available in five sizes.
Among features of the tire are:
R-1W tread depth for long tread life and wet/dry traction;
* Rugged, flexible sidewall rubber that withstands conditions created by high-horsepower, high-torque tractors;
* A 23-degree bar angle that allows the entire tread bar to achieve maximum soil penetration and traction while delivering optimum fuel economy;
* Deeper tread and a tough full-width bar that delivers sure footing, even wear and superior traction in a wide variety of soil conditions; and
* Buttressed lugs for increased stability and bite.
Ralph Burchfield, ag division president, said the company continues to use “the latest research and technology to engineer top-performing tires that meet the changing needs of the American farmer.”
