RESTON, Va. (Sept. 16, 2002)—The Tire Industry Association has announced the election of Tony Vizyak and Tiffany Hughes to its board of directors.
Ms. Hughes is vice president of American Rubber Technologies in Jacksonville, Fla. She has been a member of the erstwhile International Tire & Rubber Association's advisory council for nearly a decade. She received ITRA's Industry Leadership Award in 1999.
Mr. Vizyak is president of Sandusky, Ohio-based Great Lakes Tire, a single-store retail/commercial dealer. He served the past three years on the board of the Tire Association of North America, with merged with ITRA to form TIA. He formerly was president of the Ohio Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association.
TIA officials say they are trimming the size of the board from 48 to 40 this year and down to 36 over a three-year span. Thus, only two board seats were available in this election.
“It is important to shrink the size of the board,” said Steve Disney, TIA president. “But I regret that only two individuals can win board seats this year. There were many outstanding candidates on the ballot.”
During a typical election, 10 seats are available.
