Kumho Tire USA's passenger and light truck tire shipments in the first half of 2002 have ``far exceeded'' the industry as a whole, putting the firm on pace to achieve its targeted sales growth of 32 percent.
The company would not release specific numbers, said a spokesman who added it is ``slightly ahead'' of its goals for the year. Kumho posted a 32-percent increase in sales in 2001 and hoped to follow with similar success this year.
Mr. Hudrlik said three things contributed to the company's growth rate. It added ultra-high performance products, ``strategic'' independent tire dealers and brand awareness created by a 3-year-old multi-media marketing strategy.
Mr. Hudrlik added Kumho expects the growth trend to continue throughout the year in spite of current economic and industry conditions.
