RESTON, Va. (Aug. 16, 2002)—Tire dealers attending the upcoming International Tire Expo in Las Vegas will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of 12 successful tire dealers during two panel discussions set for Nov. 5 and 6.
Dealers will get to ask questions about issues “they've been wondering about, planning or hesitating doing,” said Don Olson, a retired tire dealer and former owner and founder of Don Olson Tire in Florida, who will moderate the sessions. “Every dealer faces situations like these, and it's not very often you have an opportunity to ask: 'What can I do? What should I do,” he said.
The sessions are titled “Successful tire dealers share their secrets,” and will run from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
Dealers on the panel operate between one and 70 stores.
Panelists for the Nov. 5, session include: Bob Dabrowski of Tire Warehouse Central, Keene, N.H.; Jerry White of White Tire Supply, Beaumont, Texas; Ron Lautzenheiser of College Tire Inc., Fort Collins, Colo.; Bob Purcell of Purcell Tire & Rubber Co., Potosi, Mo.; Paul Swentzel of S&S Tire Inc., Lexington, Ky.; and Dave Komaromi of Tires To Go Inc., West Sacramento, Calif.
Panelists for the Nov. 6 session include: John Kauffman of Kauffman Tire Inc., Atlanta, Ga.; Paul Hyatt of Superior Tire Corp., Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Terry Westhafer of Central Tire Corp., Verona, Va.; Chris Wyborny of Ramona Tire & Service Centers, Hemet, Calif.; Charles Creighton of Colony Tire Corp., Edenton, N.C.; and Phil Raben of Raben Tire, Evansville, Ind.
“In this seminar you will not only hear the comments from the dealers on the panel but from dealers in the audience,” Mr. Olson said.
Among the topics he expects will be covered are: “How can I find good technicians?” “How can I improve my gross profit?” “What can I do to sell more passenger tires?” “Should I buy or lease store locations?” and “What benefits do I need to keep my employees healthy?”
The seminars are part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association/ITE show, which runs from Nov. 5-8 in Las Vegas. For registration and hotel information, contact the Tire Industry Association's fax-on-demand service at (888) 889-7391.
