AKRON (Aug. 2, 2002) — Goodyear has named Barbara Gould its new director of investor relations. Currently the company's director of business development, Ms. Gould succeeds Laura K. Thompson on Sept. 1 and will report to Robert W. Tieken, executive vice president and CFO.
“Barb has contributed to the success of several industrial firms and brings a broad base of experience to this positions,” Mr. Tieken said in a statement. “She will be an outstanding addition to our investor relations team.”
Ms. Thompson will become director of finance, consumer tires, for the tire maker's North American Tire unit.
“Laura has done an outstanding job building relationships and improving communications with our shareholders and with the financial analysts who cover Goodyear,” Mr. Tieken said.
Ms. Gould, 52, came to Goodyear in 2000 from Mallinckrodt Inc., where she had been vice president of investor relations for two years. That followed an eight-year stint with M.A. Hanna Co. where she was director of investor relations and corporate communications.
Ms. Thompson has been with Goodyear since 1983, holding several accounting positions before being named financial analyst in 1993 and manager, finance, research and development in 1997.
