RESTON, Va. (Aug. 1, 2002) — The Tire Industry Association is accepting nominations for the Tire Industry Hall of Fame, which celebrates the achievements of leaders who have shaped the tire industry.
The Hall combines the traditions of the International Tire and Rubber Association and the Tire Association of North America into a single list. The two groups merged July 1.
Past inductees include Harvey Brodsky, Harvey Firestone, Les Schwab, Louis Myers, Roy Carver, John Bean, Pauline Chambers-Yost, Ed Wagner, John Dunlop, Charles Goodyear and Andre Michelin.
“Induction into the Hall of Fame is one of the industry's great honors,” TIA President Steve Disney said. “We are proud to continue this great tradition under the banner of the Tire Industry Association.”
The Tire Industry Hall of Fame is open to all people in the industry, including manufacturers, inventors, members of the media, equipment suppliers, tire dealers, scrap tire and rubber recycling professionals and retreaders.
Nomination forms for the Hall are available by calling TIA at (703) 736-8082. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 1. Inductions will take place Nov. 5 during the TIA Hall of Fame breakfast at the International Tire Expo in Las Vegas.
