GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 26, 2002) — Michelin has signed with Quadrem International Ltd., an e-marketplace for the global mining, minerals and metals industries that will enable Michelin's mining customers to purchase tires electronically.
Via the electronic purchasing system, customers can access Michelin's e-fleet online catalogue and make their purchases online, thereby reducing processing costs and errors, the Greenville-based tire maker said.
“We are constantly looking for ways to do business better and more efficiently for our customers,” said Jack McCammond, Michelin Americas Truck Tires' manager of e-products business. “By joining with Quadrem, our mining customers and Michelin will ultimately save time and money on the purchasing process.”
Quadrem is revolutionizing supply-chain processes and offering unrivaled benefits for sellers and buyers, a Michelin press release said. It has been developed as a one-stop solution to meet the needs of this industry.
“Attracting a global seller like Michelin is terrific news. We welcome them aboard,” said Jim Krogman, Quadrem vice president, Global Business. “Taking costs out of the supply chain is very important to all involved in our industry, as well as creating efficiency gains by automating the procurement process. Michelin has joined Quadrem because they appreciate those benefits, as well as taking advantage of a single point of access to the world's leading mining companies.”
