OKLAHOMA CITY (May 29, 2002) — Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating signed a bill May 23 that will help fund planned expansions/modernizations at Goodyear and Michelin North America Inc. tire plants in the state.
More than $41 million will aid Goodyear in its $250 million, two-phase expansion in Lawton/Fort Sill and Michelin for a $56 million expansion in Ardmore.
Comanche County voters in March approved $3 million in local funding for the Goodyear project. Groundbreaking for the Goodyear expansion is planned for June 1.
Michelin's modernization program will stretch over four years and will broaden the plant's capabilities to make Michelin brand tires alongside Uniroyal and BFGoodrich branded items.
