AKRON (May 13, 2002)—Goodyear recently donated $15,000 to the NAACP. Phil Brown, vice president of human resources for the company's North American Tire division presented the check to Keryl Douglas, the NAACP's southwest region director.
The gift was made during the NAACP's Southwestern Region VI Conference in Little Rock, Ark.
“Our goal is to increase the region director's awareness of our local facilities, to facilitate their understanding of our hiring process and to build on these relationships so that their organization can become a more integral part of our recruitment, outreach and problem resolution efforts,” Mr. Brown said in a statement.
Goodyear began the regional initiative last summer with Region V NAACP, which includes several southern states and encompasses more than 14,000 Goodyear employees, the company said.
