WASHINGTON (May 2, 2002)—Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1,096 Ford Ranger pickup trucks equipped with FX4 packages and manufactured between May 2001 and January 2002.
In these trucks, the rear axle differential case can fracture during rapid acceleration or when a spinning tire suddenly gains traction.
This can result in wheel lockup and loss of control, Ford said. Ford will replace the rear axle assemblies free of charge.
