Mid-America group picks directors
TOPEKA, Kan.-The Mid-America Tire Dealers Association elected a slate of directors during its March 1-3 annual meeting and convention in Manhattan, Kan.
Directors who will serve two-year terms beginning July 1 are: Gary Albright of Becker Tire & Treading Inc. in Great Bend, Kan.; Ron Champlin of Christensen Oil Co. in Concordia, Kan.; Mike Garrett of Garrett Tires in Grand Island, Neb.; David McMannis of Canton Service Center in Canton, Kan.; Sterling Smith of Russell Tire in Russell, Kan.; and Mike Thompson of Thompson's OK Tire in Beloit, Kan.
NW dealers award Bozarth, Bateman
KENNEWICK, Wash.-Ted Bateman and Marvin Bozarth received Outstanding Achievement Awards from the Northwest Tire Dealers Association during the group's annual meeting and trade show, Feb. 7 in Portland.
Mr. Bozarth, retired executive director of the International Tire & Rubber Association, and Mr. Bateman, a former president of the Oregon Tire Dealers Association, both received the award for their contributions to the tire industry, according to NWTDA Executive Director Dick Nordness.
Mr. Bateman recently retired as president of Northwest Retreaders Inc. in Portland.
ASA president Trapp to step down
BEDFORD, Texas-Automotive Service Association President Walter Trapp will not seek to renew his contract with the group when that contract expires on Dec. 31.
ASA said Chicago-based Tuft and Associates Inc. will conduct a national search for the association's new executive.
Mr. Trapp came to ASA in 1994 as its executive vice president and general counsel. He became president and chief staff executive in January 1999.
