GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (April 11, 2002)—Bridgestone/Firestone's Aiken County, S.C., plant has received the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing.
The Shingo Prize promotes world-class manufacturing and recognizes companies that achieve superior customer satisfaction and business results. The philosophy of the Shingo Prize is that world-class business performance may be achieved through focused improvements in core manufacturing and business processes.
“Our goal at Bridgestone/Firestone…is excellence in all areas of manufacturing,” said Mike Rose, general manager of operations at the South Carolina plant. “Achieving this award is a tribute to what our team members do on a daily basis.”
Established in 1988, the Shingo Prize is named in honor of Dr. Shigeo Shingo, an engineer who helped create the Toyota Production System and other related lean manufacturing processes.
