GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 3, 2002)—In what it called “a way of acknowledging the value already built into the tire,” Michelin has backed its Cross Terrain sport-utility vehicle tire with a 65,000-mile warranty. The tire previously had no mileage warranty, a company spokeswoman said.
The Cross Terrain SUV tire was designed to meet the handling and performance needs of SUVs, Michelin said. It is available at independent Michelin dealers and retailers throughout North America in 27 different sizes ranging from P215/70R15 to P275/55R18. The Cross Terrain SUV has solid coverage in the traditional S- rated sizes, as well as the emerging H-rated and larger diameter sizes favored by tuners, the tire maker said.
“This tire has been a really big hit with consumers and we're selling a lot of them,” said James Rowe, vice president of purchasing for Tire Kingdom. “Consumers are telling us they like the Michelin Cross Terrain SUV. They say it gives their vehicle a quieter ride when compared to their previous SUV tires.”
